Country trio Runaway June offer sound advice with “Lipstick,” their debut single. The all-female group’s first release relies on fiddle, tight harmonies and an original premise.

They don’t ease into it. “Lipstick” opens with the one of the sharper lyrics of 2016. It’s colorful, simple and honest — it’s a “duh” chorus, one that leaves one asking “How has nobody ever thought of this before?”

That’s a compliment, not a criticism, as the best songs often do the same thing (Kelsea Ballerini’s “Peter Pan” is a contemporary example). Truly tight harmonies hit like a slap to the face, and this trio has slappin’ capability. Naomi…
