Kelsea Ballerini’s “Yeah Boy” is a delectable spoonful of pop-country sugar. The flirty new song from The First Time revisits a theme she leaned into for “Dibs,” but doesn’t sound like a repeat.

Ballerini has her eyes on a guy, and she’s going after him. There’s something refreshing about her less-than-coy approach to romance. During “Yeah Boy,” Ballerini and her co-writers Forest Glen Whitehead and Keesy Timmer are aggressive, but no less feminine. There’s no sense of playing hard to get.

The song opens new doors. It’s a fine representative of the album, and while it’s reliant on similar production and delivery as “Dibs”…
